About the infrared thermographic examinations

Term
Medical thermography is a screening examination, which uses the human thermal map for the examination. It is a risk and pain free examination, which has no radiation hazard. It is a non-invasive method, which gives information about the condition of a part or the whole body. It is a preventive examination, with which such diseases can be screened which are otherwise difficult to diagnose.

Functional background
Human body continuously radiates heat (infrared electromagnetic radiation). The heat-energy that radiates from the body is detected and analyzed by a computer, which can distinguish between a couple of hundredth Celsius degree, therefore it is able to visualize the invisible infrared lights emitted by the human body. The infrared camera, attached to the computer electronically records the emitted infrared beams, which makes it possible to perform measurements without touching the patient. This will give us an insight into the human body and diseases, harmful symptoms become visible. Among the diagnostic methods there are only a few of them, which detect the spontaneously radiating beams of the tissues. This method makes the invisible beams visible without causing any harm to the living tissues. The history of the medical thermography goes back to the fifties of the previous century and it started with the examination of breast cancer. The use of thermography increased in the last 15-20 years in the United States and in West-Europe. Thermography is the diagnostics method of the future. It gives exact information about the abnormal processes, symptomless lesions, inflamed areas, foci, circulatory disorders, joint disorders and some tumours inside the body.

To whom it may help and for what reason?

  • completely symptomless people, if health is important for them and they would like to have a picture of their health condition
  • healthy people with periods of complaints, who would like to know, where is the week point in their body
  • breast screening
  • long term symptoms without known origin
  • follow up of chronic diseases
  • to screen patients with tumour without causing any further harm

Especially recommended:
  • to search for foci
  • suspecting acute or chronic inflammations
  • to clear the reason of any pain
  • to verify and follow up locomotive diseases
  • to follow up the healing of sport injuries
  • to follow up and screen the efficacy of a therapy

Course of the investigation
The investigation is painless. There is no need of any injection, body contact or harmful radiation. There is no need of starving before it.

Before the examination the patient has to acclimatize in the waiting room for 15 minutes. The high sensitivity camera sweeps the problematic body surface, makes exposures, which are analyzed and evaluated by a physician, who has knowledge in imaging diagnostic techniques.

Advantages:
Safe.
It has no adverse effect on the body. There is no irradiation or use of an isotope, chemical material, pin-prick. It can be used independently from age and at pregnant as well. It can be repeated indefinitely.

There is no need for body contact.
The equipment gives information without contacting the patient. Non-invasive.

Trustworthy.
Due to its sensitivity it can verify small lesions at an early stage. An overloaded or underactive body part becomes visible even if it is non-visible by other methods. It can be used to follow up therapies.

IMPORTANT!
Thermography does not replaces the traditional diagnostic methods, but as a functional examination it gives a possibility to recognize abnormal processes and to follow up the efficacy of treatments.
